It was in May 2022 that construction work began on the 7185 sq ft addition joining the existing MS/HS and the Shop/Ag building. The nearly $3M addition includes a Learning Center, a Fitness Area, and a Multi-Purpose Room which are ready for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year.
This project had its challenges including supply chain issues, incredible winter weather, and labor shortages – these slowed the building process for the subcontractors. However, all challenges were met with persistence to obtain the goals to enhance school security, increase educational learning spaces, and develop a multi-purpose room for the fitness area, wrestling practice area, and many potential uses. In June 2023 the project was determined substantially complete by Architecture Inc. and Gil Haugan Construction.
We hope that all who enter and use this area will appreciate its functionality and beauty for many decades to come. Thank you to the Strategic Planning Committee for their discussions, to all for their ideas, thoughts, support, and patience with the project completion. It is exciting to be able to provide the best educational experience and to see what the future holds for the programs of Kimball School District!
