Chorus

Jayden Assman-bass, Tatum Tyrrell-tenor, Emily Schumacher-soprano, and Kimber Rasmussen-alto participated in the 70th Annual SDHSAA All-State Chorus and Orchestra on Saturday evening, Oct 29th at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.  They were under the direction of Professor Sarah J. Catt, the Director of Choral Activities at Elmhurst University in Illinois.  The choir is comprised of about 1000 singers from across South Dakota.  Schools have representation in the choir based on school population.  The group was fortunate to have the composer of "Sing Out My Soul," Marques Garret, visit with them during their rehearsal.   The performance was broadcast live on SD PBS.  It will be aired again on Thanksgiving Day.   The students are under the direction of Rebecca Rasmussen.


The 25th SDMEA Elementary Honor Choir took place in Sioux Falls, at the convention center on Saturday, Oct 29th, 2022.   168 auditioned singers rehearsed with Sophia Papoulis and Adam Podd and then put on a fabulous concert at 3:30 PM.  Singers from Kimball are Dawson Eimers, Kristin King, Lydia Hoing and MiKenna Gilbertz.  They are pictured with their guest directors and music teacher, Rebecca Rasmussen.  Papoulis is the Senior Associate Conductor for the Young People's Chorus of New York City.  She is a well known conductor, clinician, singer, and music educator!  Adam Podd is a New York music director, pianist, organist, bassist, composer and arranger.  He accompanied the choir on piano and upright bass.  The choir performed his arrangement of "Bring Me Little Water, Silvey."  The choir did a world premiere of the song "We All Stand!" by Chis Maunu.  This piece was commissioned for the 25th Anniversary of SDMEA Elementary Honor Choir.  Please check out their performance on SD PBS on Thanksgiving Day.
